I’m always interested in expanding my my artisan skills, so this past month I decided to pursue the task of learning how to enamel metal employing the torch firing method. Since I already have a torch set up, all I needed to do was get my hands on some enamels and instructions. This is where the book – torch-fired enamel jewelry – by Barbara Lewis came in handy. Her book is chock full of tips and tricks for the novice torch firing enameler. One of the many points that I like best about this book is that Barbara includes a detailed materials and tools list for each project, along with great step by step directions. If you are interested in finding out more about torch enameling or supplies, you can visit her site here: Painting With Fire. Thanks for the instruction and inspiration Barbara.
This little Blingy Buddha Pendant Necklace is the result of my very first enamel torch experiment. A few copper scraps, some screw rivets from Objects and Elements, a fastener trinket pin from Ideaology, some links and beads. I added the Blingy Buddha for a bit of zest. A fun little piece of jewelry, I think.
You are so welcome! Results like yours are so gratifying to me. I love the colors and the playfulness. Super great results!
This necklace is totally beautiful. I simply adore the colours you have used in the enamel, and that Buddah OH!
I love it. I received Barbara’s book in the mail last week and I am looking for an opportunity to enamel….
