Bead Soup Blog Party #8

Written By: admin - May• 10•14

Thanks for stopping by for the big reveal day of the 2014 Bead Soup Blog Party.

So glad that I am able to participate in this epic blog party again.

As always, a shout out to Lori Anderson for organizing and hosting the party, and applause to all of the creative participants who provide endless hours of blog hopping entertainment.

I’ve been needing some design inspiration and I had a fabulous bead soup to work with courtesy of my partner, the talented Crystal Rector(Autumn Sky Adornments on Etsy)

This is what was sent to Crystal…

Bead Soup 2014 to Crystal

This is the loot I received to work with  …

The Goods Received BSBP8

First off, I was all over those little jade tube beads (yup, I have an eye for vintage beads.) I decided to pair them with those little yogi components because I can’t resist the chance to fiddle and put the jewel puzzle together. What do you think? A spirit trio of necklaces. They can be worn individually or one at a time. Decided to make a few earrings to go along for the ride.

The second design round produced a little necklace using that leopard jasper donut bead. I’d been wanting to try knotting this “Joan Babcock style” macrame necklace for some time. No time like the present. I used the color palette from the threads that my partner sent, but substituted waxed polyester cord. Love my waxed cord, it burns nice.

Third Round produced a multi strand necklace using lots of those tiny little beads with the tiny little macrame cord and thousands of knots. It was a bugger to make, but came out well. I had fun making the little goddess pendant out of clay.

Perhaps my favorite creation is the fourth piece. A micro macrame bracelet utilizing that oh -so- cool bone peacock pendant. Really loving how this turned out.

And I could not resist a little knotted necklace with the stone Buddha pendant from the soup.

Last but not least, another necklace using one of the cut quartz stones and the little buddha heads (these are a favorite of mine too!)  from the soup mix.

Whoa! My jaw literally dropped when I saw your Joan Babcock style necklace! I love your micro macrame work and how you incorporated them into your designs! I’ve taken Joan’s class couple of years ago and you have inspired me to do micro macrame! Wow!

  27. I love all of the micro mini macrame, I have been fascinated by it for awhile and your pieces are absolutely stunning and showcase your soup wonderfully!

  28. Silvia says:

You are so talented, but that doesn’t come as a surprise, as I already follow your creations. Every piece here is exquisite, I think the macrame are the best, but each one has its own story and is so beautiful in its colors and techniques.

  29. Love everything that you made, but my favorite is the trio of necklaces. Kudos on a well served soup!

  30. Crystal says:

Holy COW Cece! These are all so beautiful! You really pulled some gorgeous pieces out of beads that have had me stumped…for years, in some cases.
(Seriously…I’d had that peacock since 2002)

I still have a handful of those little coconut namaste charms, and now I have a much better idea how to work with them!

Your micro-macrame is just stunning….it’s a technique I’ve been wanting to learn more about, and these pieces are absolutely inspiring.

Also, I suddenly want that peacock back.
    Kidding….sort of.

  31. alisa aka Armored Mermaid says:

    Amazing micro-macrame!

  32. kathy stemke says:

WOW!! You made soooo many beautiful pieces. I love how your macramé flows so effortlessly into your jewelry designs. Bravo!

  33. Alisa says:

The Buddha makes me smile so much! (:

  34. Love all of it. Love your tribal style. The first piece is my favorite though. I adore mix and match sets. Beautiful work.

  35. Oh, and thanks for the intro to Joan Babcock. Her work is exquisite.

  36. So many pieces, and each with its unique style – lovely. The micro-macrame on the bracelet and necklace are something I would like to learn one day: I love how they turned out. And I’m very attracted to versatile designs, like your triplet necklace that can be worn multiple ways. Love it (and all your pieces!)

  37. Leanne says:

I absolutely love the multi strand necklace and the pretty necklace with the Buddha pendant! Everything you made is beautiful!

  38. Wow, amazing talent here. It started out great and just got greater and greater.
Love the macrame peacock. The macrame necklace. The trio of necklaces. Everything is fabulous. Great job.

  39. Anonymous says:

Wow, Cece, these are absolutely gorgeous! I just love the hip style… you certainly tamed that soup 🙂

  40. CraftyHope says:

There’s SO MUCH goodness you made with this soup! I really like the one with all the colorful macrame, but that last one has got to be my favorite. It looks so simple at first, but the details really draw you in. Beautiful work, all of it!!

  41. Dorota says:

Master of macrame!!!-impressive projects, bracelet absolutely amazing!

  42. Wow – you took a fantastic soup and made so many wonderful pieces with it! I *love* the micromacrame (especially since I have a hard time seeing myself doing it, so I appreciate it all the more!), and the “Babcock-style” piece is truly amazing…but…my heart is drawn most strongly to the top trio of spirit necklaces. Those, I don’t know exactly why, but they have such a wonderful peaceful vibe that they’re hard to resist! Well done all around!

  43. Silke says:

Oh, these all are so great! But I have a favourtite. It’s the peacock bracelet. Thats really outstanding. Wonderful work!

  44. Jo-Ann says:

What a wonderful array of creations. Your spirit trio of necklaces is my fav. Great work.

  45. Hi Cece, Your designs are seriously AWESOME. Making the coordinating trio of necklaces and earrings gives so much wearability. This is my favorite from all of your pieces. Cool macrame. It is a perfect compliment to the leopardskin jasper donut. The carved bone peacock pendant is gorgeous and the macrame you did for is suits it well. I think that I would wear it so that the peacock was facing the other way, so that I could look at it while I was wearing it.

  46. Bobbie says:

Oh, my…your work always leaves me stunned, but this batch has left me speechless. The first set with the beautifully harmonized trio of necklaces is a visual treat. The necklace in the style of Joan Babcock (another of my favorite designers) is a jaw dropper. And I really appreciated the way you highlighted the beauty of the peacock pendant with intricate knotting that enhanced the focal, without detracting from it at all. Brava!

  47. Linda A. says:

Your pieces are STUNNING! I love that you mixed techniques and textures. The colors worked really well together, too. My fav is the piece with the czech glass. I just like the variety. =)

  48. The triple necklace is a queen – beautifully done and structured! And I love an unconventional use of findings (the earrings!). The knotted necklace is stunning! I have a thing for multistrands and this one had three completely independent and well grouped strands. Your macrame on the last pieces is gorgeous!

  49. Chris McGilvery says:

OMG!!! Love each one of your soup dishes! Love the 1st set as it incorporates so many elements, knotting, linking, wrapping, dangling. The set is stunning with each necklace uniquely standing alone yet wow together! Beautiful micro macrame work! Never tried this. You have sensational artistic talent! Fond of the earring bunch too! Great soup!!!

  50. Barb Fernald says:

I love seeing all that macrame. Especially on the bone bracelet. Your pieces are so detailed and fun. The three necklaces that can be worn together or separately are a wonderful design.

  51. Dana says:

Wow LOVE all your pieces! I am going to have to go look up that knotting method. Your pieces are so pretty!
You definitely simmered the pot to perfection, just gorgeousness here.
