Spirit Trinity Necklaces by The Beading Yogini

Bead Soup Blog Party #8

Thanks for stopping by for the big reveal day of the 2014 Bead Soup Blog Party.

So glad that I am able to participate in this epic blog party again.

As always, a shout out to Lori Anderson for organizing and hosting the party, and applause to all of the creative participants who provide endless hours of blog hopping entertainment.

I’ve been needing some design inspiration and I had a fabulous bead soup to work with courtesy of my partner, the talented Crystal Rector(Autumn Sky Adornments on Etsy)

This is what was sent to Crystal…

Bead Soup 2014 to Crystal

This is the loot I received to work with  …

The Goods Received BSBP8

First off, I was all over those little jade tube beads (yup, I have an eye for vintage beads.) I decided to pair them with those little yogi components because I can’t resist the chance to fiddle and put the jewel puzzle together. What do you think? A spirit trio of necklaces. They can be worn individually or one at a time. Decided to make a few earrings to go along for the ride.

The second design round produced a little necklace using that leopard jasper donut bead. I’d been wanting to try knotting this “Joan Babcock style” macrame necklace for some time. No time like the present. I used the color palette from the threads that my partner sent, but substituted waxed polyester cord. Love my waxed cord, it burns nice.

Third Round produced a multi strand necklace using lots of those tiny little beads with the tiny little macrame cord and thousands of knots. It was a bugger to make, but came out well. I had fun making the little goddess pendant out of clay.

Perhaps my favorite creation is the fourth piece. A micro macrame bracelet utilizing that oh -so- cool bone peacock pendant. Really loving how this turned out.

And I could not resist a little knotted necklace with the stone Buddha pendant from the soup.

Last but not least, another necklace using one of the cut quartz stones and the little buddha heads (these are a favorite of mine too!)  from the soup mix.

Bead Soup Blog Party #7 Reveal

Time for the first reveal at the Bead Soup Blog Party # 7.

First off, I was thrilled with all the beads, charms and bits that my partner Debra Behrends (Hopeful Journeys) shared with me.

So much good stuff that I could not fit everything into my limited design time.

Next up, I’d like to thank Lori Anderson (Pretty Things) for hosting this event and at the same time, to thank all the party goers who make this such a blog blast. Reserve some time for blog hopping. It’s a treat. Participants links are here.

A few words about my design process. Mostly I just sit down and make stuff. Not much for sketching, or grand design planning. I trust that the piece will come into being and to be what it needs to be. And, that it will appeal to someone, somewhere.

She also sent a small sized hand bound paper journal too.

BSBP7 Partner Intro

The 7th Bead Soup Blog Party is kicking into high gear and is currently announcing partner match ups for the three reveals. This time around, my partner for the 1st Reveal is Debra Behrends of  Hopeful Journeys. This Bead Soup business is always a fun swap and a great way to cyber meet fellow designers and artists. You can get to know just a bit about Debra by visiting her website, pinterest pageetsy shop and her blog.

MorphedBSBP2013SENT1 by The Beading Yogini

(BSBP teaser photo of the loot I mailed to Debra.)

We have a few things in common besides melting glass.

We both have funny little white dogs who do tricks.

Her dog does a handstand thing and one of mine does a tripod standing thing when he eats.

We both eat gluten free and paleo.

Both of us dabble a bit in journal making, and it seems we both like a lot of color.

We both have busy schedules.

We also have a few polar opposites.

I live in the Mojave Desert and she lives in Minnesota.

She’s a Momma fours times over and I have no children.

Debra has chickens and I have none. (I am quite envious.)

So, this should be an interesting swap.

BSBP7-Lori

Stay tuned for more BSBP posts in the future.

6th Bead Soup Blog Party Hop

It’s been a great party so far and now it’s the 3rd Reveal for the Bead Soup Blog Party Hop.

My partner has been very busy, hosting and creating and let’s give her some applause for taking on this task… you go Lori Anderson!!! (Pretty Things)

I received the best soup ingredients to use to stir up some jewelry designs. In my usual fashion, I like to mix n match, and make loads of different jewelry pieces.

(Photo credit for this pic Lori Anderson)

Bead Soup 1 photo by Lori Anderson

So here is my 1st piece of jewelry.

BSBP6#2DaisyChain108 by The Beading Yogini

Daisy Chain 108 is a micro macrame and chain bracelet. Soup ingredients used:

the purple crystals, pietersite bead and bronze jumprings. I added african trade beads, C-Lon cord, copper center piece, copper chain, and a lobster claw clasp. It wears well and fits me perfectly. The temperature was 108 degrees on the afternoon I cooked this bracelet up.

Next up … those square beads

The only items that threw me for a moment were the square shaped light butter colored beads. Eventually my creative muse surfaced a design for those and I think it is a keeper. I added those square beads to a repurposed bracelet medallion. The colors are a perfect match, and I found an old copper colored cuff to mount the macrame bracelet, in keeping with the copper theme. Plus, I got to incorporate some of those little tiny twin beads I’ve been wanting to play with.

BSBP6ButterBracelet4 by The Beading Yogini

This next copper necklace is a departure from my macrame pieces.

Although I did manage to throw a wee bit of fabric into the design.

It features a peace pendant charm.

BSBP6PeaceTimeNecklace3 by The Beading Yogini

 BSBP6Peacetimenecklace1 by The Beading Yogini

It can be worn lariat style as well. Soup ingredients used on the copper necklace: textured copper ring connector, copper clasp, spotted lampwork glass bead and the small woven copper connectors.

BSBP6PeaceTimeNecklace2 by The Beading Yogini

Here’s what became of the sweet little round, etched ribbed lampwork bead, a few of the shell beads, the copper bead caps, the purple/green crystals, the purple cord, the white cord… I added flowers shaped amber crystal beads and a few small etched lampwork beads. A cute little macrame, slide closure bracelet.

BSBP6RibbedSliderBracelet2 by The Beading Yogini

I think I’m keeping the next piece for myself. Those Marsha Neal ceramic pieces ended up as a necklace and earrings.

My favorite color too.

BSBP6Breathe1Necklace by The Beading Yogini

If you follow along at all, you know how I often like to make the back of the piece as wearable as the front.

So goes for this necklace.

I used a Tim Holtz metal piece for the flip side of the pendant.

I’m also in love with that little Tierra Cast Buddha head bead.

BSBP6BreatheNecklace2 by The Beading Yogini

What became of those Czech glass purple striped lentil dangle beads?

A little pair of earrings and macrame necklace, using one of those vintage cloisonne beads for the focal point.

BSBP6FlightNecklace3 by The Beading Yogini

BSBP6FlightNecklace1 by The Beading Yogini

This seed embroidered cuff bracelet features a beautiful moon faced clay bead by Birgitta Lejonklou as the centerpiece.

BSBP6 seed bead cuff by the Beading Yogini

I added Lori’s pietersite beads and the small shell beads are going in this design too. Oh, and lots of tiny seed beads and thread.

Time and life sort of became very busy for me, so watch for the completed design on this at a later date.

And here’s a gallery page of photos with a few different views of all of the designs.

5th Bead Soup Blog Party Partner

The current Bead Soup Blog Party  is now in full swing and I’ve had the luck of the draw to be partnered up for the swap with the talented Morwyn Mullins (Another Country Bead Works). Morwyn does some fancy seed beading and and her work has loads of creative energy. So without further delay, I’m spilling the beads… here’s a sample of what I sent to Morwyn … because a woman needs options, there’s a real assortment of materials. You can check out her blog post for better photos of the loot.

And here is what I received from Morwyn…

Seed Bead Soup from Morwyn MullinsSeeds beads … I’ve been wanting to work some neutrals, but color always seem to win out with me.

Bead Soup Terra CottaI’m really liking those little tiny bone skull beads and those terra cotta figure beads.

Picture Jasper from MorwynAnd, these great picture jasper pieces. They remind me so much of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, which happens to be about four miles from my home. It’s a shame that I so rarely get to enjoy hiking the canyon these days. Perfect days for it lately.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Thanks for the materials Morwyn. And, thanks Lori Anderson (Pretty Things) for once again hosting this creative challenge.
