February 2012 Art Bead Scene Challenge

I almost opted to take a nap yesterday afternoon. It was one of those blustery, crazy wind days in the Mojave and as luck would have it, I’m fending off a head cold, hopped out on Zicam. After dropping off plants at the Desert Tortoise Conservation Center, I decided to take the afternoon off and […]

January 2012 Art Bead Scene Challenge

The inspiration for the January Art Bead Scene Challenge is “Trellis by William Morris, 1862”   You can read more biographical information about the artist and this design at ART BEAD SCENE. I love the color palette, especially the coral, rust and gold hues. Even though I think my final design is very simple, I […]

Planting Seeds

Seed beads of course. Third attempt at seed bead embroidery, with another seed beaded cuff bracelet. Brighter colors this time around. I can’t recall who said it, but someone likened it to painting, except the medium is beads. Allowing the pattern to wander and adding splashes of color here and there.

Owl Totem Seed Bead Embroidered Necklace With Micro Macrame Cords

My second attempt at seed bead embroidery. I intended this piece to be a cuff bracelet, but the laws of physics did not allow that to happen. The cabs on it were too large to bend at the proper angles. So, as most designers know, flexibility is the key to creativity. Hence, with a few […]

Bead Table Wednesday, probably time to tidy up the remnants from the last creative blizzard. Seriously, every flat space is occupied in the work room. Even the chair seat and some of the floor. I need room to play with some real clay today. I believe I finally mastered inputting a bisque firing program into […]

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 – BTW

Here’s what’s on the bead table today: A freshly completed silk sari ribbon and yarn cuff featuring another ceramic focal by Birgitta (a.k.a. AngelWhisper at Etsy). And maybe this is what’s in store for today, I’m liking these colors teals, browns and beiges… But, I may not get around to it because I did this […]

Tiny Lampwork Glass Bead & Macrame Necklaces

I’ve been on a roll this past week making a slew of the tiniest lampwork glass beads. I’m using them to make a few gifts for those folks who are dear and far from me. For birthday gifts and just because. The lampwork beads work out so well for micro macrame, because the bead hole […]

October ABS Challenge

Art Bead Scene Monthly Challenge for October. Initially I wasn’t too thrilled with the selection. I even considered just passing on this round. But, I really like the color palette, so I reconsidered. A Hedgehog in a Landscape, 1643-51  9¼ x 15 in. 23.5 x 38 cm. bodycolor on vellum by Giovanna Garzoni Then, the […]
