Bead Soup Blog Party #8

Thanks for stopping by for the big reveal day of the 2014 Bead Soup Blog Party.

So glad that I am able to participate in this epic blog party again.

As always, a shout out to Lori Anderson for organizing and hosting the party, and applause to all of the creative participants who provide endless hours of blog hopping entertainment.

I’ve been needing some design inspiration and I had a fabulous bead soup to work with courtesy of my partner, the talented Crystal Rector(Autumn Sky Adornments on Etsy)

This is what was sent to Crystal…

First off, I was all over those little jade tube beads (yup, I have an eye for vintage beads.) I decided to pair them with those little yogi components because I can’t resist the chance to fiddle and put the jewel puzzle together. What do you think? A spirit trio of necklaces. They can be worn individually or one at a time. Decided to make a few earrings to go along for the ride.

The second design round produced a little necklace using that leopard jasper donut bead. I’d been wanting to try knotting this “Joan Babcock style” macrame necklace for some time. No time like the present. I used the color palette from the threads that my partner sent, but substituted waxed polyester cord. Love my waxed cord, it burns nice.

Third Round produced a multi strand necklace using lots of those tiny little beads with the tiny little macrame cord and thousands of knots. It was a bugger to make, but came out well. I had fun making the little goddess pendant out of clay.

Perhaps my favorite creation is the fourth piece. A micro macrame bracelet utilizing that oh -so- cool bone peacock pendant. Really loving how this turned out.

And I could not resist a little knotted necklace with the stone Buddha pendant from the soup.

Last but not least, another necklace using one of the cut quartz stones and the little buddha heads (these are a favorite of mine too!)  from the soup mix.
