This is the second Challenge of Color Blog Hop that I have participated in. I find it’s always fun to have someone else choose a color palette for me to play with. This time the lovely Miss Erin and Miss Brandi gave us a selection of two palettes to choose from. (Thank you Erin and Brandi.) Each palette was specially selected for the participants. The option was to work with one or the other, or even both palettes. Both of my palettes very much remind me of my home turf and the colors of the Mojave desert.
The first palette is from Lake Amadeus in the Australian Outback. Looks very much like Badwater Basin in Death Valley. True story; I have both hiked and kayaked across Badwater. I’m pretty certain not many can claim that accomplishment. We had epic rainfall one year and out came the paddles and kayak. Otherwise, it’s just mud flats and salt heaves. I don’t even know if they still let people hike out on the basin anymore. Probably not too many ambitious enough to do that anyway.
Here’s my version Lake Amadeus:
The next palette up is Desert Patterns. I believe this is Saharan sand dunes in Algeria, Africa. We don’t have sand dunes quite that impressive here in the Mojave. In fact, when I first moved here, I was very disappointed because I had been expecting more sand dunes. I am over that now, because it would just mean more grit, dust and dirt to contend with and we have plenty already. The thing we do have in common … wind, wind and more wind.
Check out these desert colors…
Thanks for stopping in and do hop around and see what others did with this challenge.
Both pieces are stunning and depict the palettes perfectly. You did a wonderful job with the challenge CeCe!
I had the same palette as you! Love your interpretation of it. Gorgeous!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the bracelet. Gorgeous design and great execution!
Those are both amazing! I love the focal in your necklace and the pop of red with the glass rounds and the sari ribbon .. so many different components and you made them work together so flawlessly! The bracelet is beautiful as well. I found myself staring at the screen wondering how you wove the fiber and chain together .. it works so wonderfully!
That necklace is drop dead gorgeous! BUT, I have this thing for bracelets, so I have to say that is my absolute favorite! Both are gorgeous pieces!
Cece, I love both of your pieces. I find your use of fiber inspiring… kind of like when the ground gets really dry and cracks… so too does the fibers fray creating something earthy and organic.
Great designs. Happy Hopping!
{Hugs!}

You nailed those color palettes. Beautiful pieces with a personal connection to these types of geological areas; very interesting.
Weren’t the Challenge of Color palettes just beautiful? I was so happy with the ones I got. You made such gorgeous pieces with yours! You did a fantastic job on this challenge!
Job well done! Both palettes were pretty, as well as your creative designs!
Ohmigosh, your pieces are absolutely stunning! They perfectly capture not only the colors of the palettes, but the feeling and textures of them, too!
It’s tough to choose, but I think my favorite is the Desert Patterns bracelet. It is absolutely magnificent, and I love all of the little details. The way the aqua thread winds through. The lovely sandy orange color. And the touches of gold chain peeking through! Perfect.
Thank you for playing along!
We shared the same Lake Amadeus palette and I like how you interpreted it. Fabrics are perfect for that necklace.

What beautiful palettes! I love your second piece, how you created the same flow as your palette. And, your flower focal in the first piece – Love! Great job.
Wow! Beautiful work.
Your pieces are lovely as always! The way you have matched the colours in the palettes is splendid 🙂
Great job using the color palettes. I like both your pieces but the blue & lime is striking.
Fantastic eye candy! I love how you captured the swipes of green from the first photo with the daubs of color on the flower pendant in particular.
LOVE these pieces. The colors and textures are amazing. Great interpretation. Thanks for sharing. Cherrie
That bracelet is perfect!
The focal bead is stunning. I really like that you added a fiber component, it really compliments the piece!

Oh my – that focal in your first piece is so fantastic! But your bracelet – THE BRACELET! OMG! I look at it and can I feel the wind whipping! You have nailed the colors and the textures so well! Both are so beautiful!
It’s almost as if you captured the textures of the landscapes in addition to the colors. Nice work!
Your work is always, ALWAYS, so stunning and creative and I’d wear it all. I wish I had a bit of your eye and talent!
You have a command over materials Miss Cece. I love the first one with the gritty flower and the lush assortments of interesting items to look at. The second really brings out the undulating dunes. The colors are magnificent! Thank you so much for playing with us! Enjoy the day. Erin
Beautiful interpretation of your palettes – love those desert colors!
Both pieces are stunning. Love the richness of the necklace and that magnificent flower focal.
Both designs are beautiful – I love the components you have used – to bring the colours together so beautifully. Love your blog – fabulous posts!
Wow, Lake Amadeus was my second palette, and you did it way more justice than I could have. That necklace is gorgeous, and it so perfectly matches the palette. Amazing work!
CeCe, you are just so damn CREATIVE!!! I don’t know which piece I like better! All that color and texture! Your work is fantastic!!!
Just love those palettes, CeCe, and I am so jealous of your mastery of style. Your pieces are simply amazing!
Oh my gosh – you captured both palettes perfectly! Though I do have to say I love Desert Patterns bracelet a lot and it does remind me of the Mojave (was out in the Mojave a lot for training exercises at Fort Irwin).
Bothe pieces are gorgeous, and that flower focal…yum!
You did such gorgeous interpretations of your palettes! I love the bracelet especially. I’ve always wondered if it would be hard to live in a desert with the wind blowing sand everywhere… you just answered that question LOL.
These are beautiful! The necklace is amazing! The mixed textures and that focal!!! Stunning!
Hi CeCe,
Your creations never disapoint, these two pieces are gorgeous and I love all the texture you always put into your designs. The silk gives a softness to the hard metal. Beautiful job.

Really beautiful work as always. I just love all the texture in your pieces, it really brings out that these are landscapes as inspiration.
Oh, wow! That beautiful, beautiful focal! Honestly, I’ve seldom been as inspired as I am now, looking at your pieces. Definitely becoming a follower of your blog…so much beauty!
Wonderful interpretation of the color pallets.
What a sunny, happy necklace to go with your first palette! The bracelet is spot on with the second one, too!
Great pieces. I especially like the colors and texture in your bracelet, but they’re both very nice.
Wow, you really captured your two palettes beautifully. I love the necklace and the bracelet is stunning! It doesn’t just capture the colours but the striations of the picture as well.
Both pieces are gorgeous, but I just love the flower necklace for it’s whimsical design, and the colors of the bracelet are just stunning. Both represent the inspiration photos well.
