Art Bead Scene June Challenge 2012

June 2012 - nighthawk palette 3 Brandi Hussey Art Bead Scene

I’ve always liked this painting by Edward Hopper

Nighthawks (1942)

Can’t everyone relate to the late night, cheap diner experience?

I think we’ve all been there and done that at some point in our development.

Who knew, even the Simpson’s had an episode featuring this cheap diner backdrop?

Enough talk, here’s the jewelry design for the month.

My sister has a birthday this month and I’m hoping she will like this gift coming her way.

Materials used: assorted seed beads, C-Lon cord, copper chain, jumprings, clasp, silk sari cord, embroidery thread

,lampwork glass headpins, lucite flowers, and a Lipstick Ranch rustic “sisters” charm.

I opted to work with Brandi Hussey’s Color Palette 3 for this months Art Bead Scene Challenge.

Naturally Lucky

Heather Powers Jewelry Designs from Nature Book

At the end of May, Heather Powers put a shout out for a bead give away and a challenge to promote and celebrate the release of her book (Jewelry Design from Nature) into Hobby Lobby and Michael’s brick and mortar stores. Since I had played along when she had the nature series challenges last year, I thought it would be great fun to toss my hat into the ring for a chance to play along. I work at a cactus garden nursery, I’m around lots of nature everyday, and really enjoy basing jewelry designs on natural elements. Lucky me, I was selected to participate. Now looking forward to the opportunity to create. Stay tuned for the blog hop on July 17, 2012. Thanks for your generosity and inspiration Heather.

The Challenge:

Each participant will receive a packet that contains:

1. A few Humblebeads featured in the book

2. A nature-inspired poem

3. A photo for color and design inspiration

The packets will be themed and you could get a garden, woodlands or sea set!
