Inspired By Nature Challenge SEA Waves Necklace

Written By: admin - Sep• 03•11

I challenged myself to play along for the full series of the Inspired By Nature Challenges. I think this is week number ten and the last four jewelry making challenges are sea related. Here’s the design I came up with for this week:

IBN Sea Challenge Waves Necklace Full View by The Beading YoginiI’m referring to this necklace as waves because the lampwork focal bead reminds me of how the surf sometimes kicks up and how it makes the waves look foamy and swirled. The lampwork bead effects are created from Gaia, a Double Helix Glassworks silver glass. All types of interesting effects can be created by finessing the oxygen and propane mix at the torch. I got lucky with this one because both sides of the bead came out quite nice.

One side looks kind of wispy with the threads on the surface. The other side shows off the recycled silk sari ribbon. The necklace has a wave like pattern created from micro-macrame knotting using see beads and C-Lon cord. It has a shell button clasp closure and is adjustable by one inch in length; just select the button hole where you want it to close.
